condoms - is headache for porn industry

Porn stars may soon have to start wearing ‘rubber’ during their films.

The Los Angeles City Council has already given thumbs up to a new ordinance that will require condoms to be used in adult film productions.

Since the HIV outbreak, the adult industry has required the ‘actors’ to take monthly tests, and those who were found positive to sexually transmitted diseases were not hired by producers. This has proven an effective safeguard for porn professionals.

If this new ordinance will pass, some companies will obviously follow the law and use condoms while other less scrupulous producers may go underground or move to other cities where the law will not be applied.

A 25-year-old former porn star, Derrick Burts, who said he contracted HIV/AIDS and several other sexually transmitted diseases in 2010 after less than five months working in the adult film industry, said that adult movies producers don’t want performers to wear protection because sex without condoms “is part of the fantasy.”

Pornography viewers are obviously not looking for safe-sex education when watching adult films. What will happen then? Is the porn industry about to take a hit with the condoms or will the producers ignore the law?
