What the diplomat's death, they responded, "I wonder why he needed it?"

Charles Maurice de Talleyrand-Perigord, or simply Talleyrand was a French diplomat and politician, and his name is almost synonymous to indicate trickery and unscrupulousness. Starting his career minister, Talleyrand was promoted to the post of Minister of Foreign Affairs in the Directorate. Then he helped it's overthrow and the establishment of the Empire led by Napoleon. After France's defeat in the war and exile of Napoleon, Talleyrand was to represent the interests of the king, contributing to the restoration of the Bourbon dynasty, and again became foreign minister in the government of Louis Philippe. All this time he did not forget to take bribes from different states and weave subtle political intrigue across Europe. After his death, wags joked: "Talleyrand died? I wonder  why he needed it?".
